Cimarron
Felis concolor
- PUMA

Cimarron is a wild
born cougar who was found in a field near Dayton, Washington.
She had an encounter
with a porcupine, had obviously not eaten for many days
and was infested
with ticks. The Zoo's Curator and a former Board Member
personally drove the
total of four hours to remove her from the manure covered horse trailer
that had become her
home pending an "official rescue".
She was brought to
Cat Tales after a thorough veterinary check, a bath,
tick and porcupine
quill removal, additional fluids, and antibiotics.
She was
approximately 4 months old and weighed 14 pounds.
She is lucky to be
alive and shows her appreciation by reminding us that she is still a "wild
child"
by exchanging this
common show of teeth with the accompanying hiss.
