Kiara
Panthera tigris - TIGER
This is Kiara. She is the daughter of
Stoli and Lil and was the first cub born here.
Even though she has grown up, she does
not understand why she can not live in the house.
Kiara still gets a "bot-bot", baby
bottle, full of goats milk whenever we need to work closely around her,
check her collar or do a physical.
Kiara, which means to change one's life, was born on May 4, 1993.
Since her mother, Lil, was sold as a cub
and was not raised by her own mother,
she had no idea how to care for
babies. In an effort to "save Kiara for later",
Lil buried her in the straw.
When the second baby, Miracle, was born she was very rough with it.
We decided
to pull the cubs in order to keep them alive.
Unfortunately, 5 days later, we lost
Miracle to internal injury.
Kiara weighed 1 pound 4 ounces at birth,
which is half the average weight.
She stopped breathing 3 times during her
first two weeks of life, but gradually grew and grew.
Today she weighs approximately 325
pounds.
