Samson
Felis concolor
- PUMA

This Puma began his life
here by being confiscated from the private party
who bought him for his
personal pets and failed to abide by the local laws governing
the private
ownership of dangerous animals. He lived across the street from an
elementary school
and had been cited for allowing the cat to run free in the
neighborhood.
After several warnings to comply to the law, the animals were
removed by the
Spokane County Animal Control to be held here until the legal
issues could be resolved.
Amazingly, after all the
effort the private owner went to get around the law and the big "hype"
he gave the media about
his devotion to the animal, he allowed the deadline to come and go
which would cause him to
loose his "beloved pet". I guess his "Ego Trip" finally reached it's end.
Who knows, however it is just one more case of animals paying the price for
human's stupidity.
Fortunately, Samson will not be destroyed as is so often the case.
The director of the
Spokane County Animal Control donated the cat to the zoo.
We all agreed that
they will live here at Cat Tales.
If another facility
needs pumas to expand their variety of animals,
he may be relocated,
however I don't really see that happening in the near future.
Meanwhile, He has
becoming very spoiled by the staff here.
