Tum Tum

Felis concolor - PUMA

This is our Canadian Puma, Tum Tum , born July 15, 1992.
His parents were confiscated in a drug raid and taken to a rescue center.
Two days later, "mama" had cubs. Because of the stress of the relocation,
she rejected her cub and we adopted him.
Tum Tum means "mama, mama" a close version of "mama's boy",
which he is, that translates as "tum tum twit".
The popular names for Puma are: cougar, mountain lion, painter,
catamount, forest tiger, and panther. They are found through out North and South America.
They are still hunted for sport or trophy in the United States.
Pumas are the largest of the felis or purring cats and range in weight from 70 pounds
near the equator, to 250 pounds in Canada. Their coloring will vary from a dark red in South America,
to a slate gray in Northern Canada.
Tum Tum weighs close to 220 pounds and reached his adult weight at two years of age.
In captivity, Pumas have a life span of up to 20 years.
