Animal Diet/Food Preparation – Must be 18 years of age or older

In this position you work alongside our animal care staff, interns and students working in the diet/food preparation kitchen.  As such, strict adherence to food safety precautions and sharp knife handling are a must and violating such may result in immediate termination.  *Incorrect food, knife, & prep tool handling and a lapse in focus, safety or following instructions could result in injury or death for humans and/or animals.  Work includes cleaning and sanitation of the diet/food preparation kitchen, food preparation for animals’ meals including working with raw meats & making accurate measurements, dishwashing, laundry, floor mopping, and accurate and timely record keeping each day.  This can be physically arduous work and you must be able to lift 40 pounds, stand or be on your feet for long periods of time, and be able to squat and lift heavy food containers correctly. This is an indoor position except for trash removal as needed.  As an Animal Diet/Food Preparation Volunteer, you have slightly less public interaction, and this job tends to be more physically demanding.
