Meet our Wolf & Wolfdogs

Picture

Lobo

Lobo is an Alaskan Tundra Wolf. She arrived at Cat Tales on April 5, 2021. She is currently in quarantine and being allowed an adjustment period prior to moving into a larger area. Cat Tales is providing a forever retirement home for Lobo. For her health and safety, Lobo’s older age required her to live isolated from other pack members at her former home. Both wildlife facilities agreed it was in her best interest to live out her life in comfort at Cat Tales. She is adjusting well and does not seem to mind being the new, older, wiser wolf. Born 2007
We are sorry to say that Lobo is no longer with us. She came in as a very old animal with geriatric health issues. As she aged out we monitored her quality of life and determined it was "time for bed".

Akeylah

Akeylah is a wolf hybrid (aka Wolfdog). What that means is she is part wolf and part domestic dog. Akeylah came to us from a private owner in the Spokane area. She was kept chained up in her owner’s yard and frequently escaped her lead. For fear of being shot by neighbors while also suffering from an inflamed wound caused by her chain and having gone untreated, she was handed over to us in spring of 2018 and long-term treatment was provided for her. After DNA testing it was found that she is ~40% wolf, ~12% unknown wild ancestry and the remainder domestic dog. Although she seems very dog-like, she still has the capacity to cause significant damage and will be treated with the utmost precaution here at Cat Tales. Born 2011

Grae

Grae is a newer addition to Cat Tales. Grae is a wolf hybrid (aka Wolfdog). What that means is she is part wolf and part domestic dog. Her DNA test proves she is 50% grey wolf, 25% Siberian husky, 12.5% Alaskan malamute, 12.5% German Shepherd. Grae was born in a wolf-hybrid rescue center in Oregon. Her 3rd owner contacted us after visiting Cat Tales and heard about our northwest native species exhibit. She knew Grae was not suited for living in a residential situation and hoped that she could be an addition to our exhibit or somewhere in our facility where Grae could have a better home more suited to her genetics. Born 06/13/2015.
