Ricky’s story began in Oklahoma, where he was born in the wild but faced an uncertain future after becoming orphaned. Sight impairment made him non-releasable, leaving him vulnerable to a life cut short. That’s when Cat Tales stepped in, offering him a second chance and a place to call home.

A Community Effort: Bringing Ricky Home

Transporting Ricky to Cat Tales was no small feat. Permits and travel costs exceeded $2,000, and the construction of his new home required an additional $4,000. Thanks to the unwavering support of our community, Ricky safely arrived last summer, ready to begin his new life.

A Home of His Own

After months of careful planning and preparation, Ricky has officially moved into his new, bobcat-furnished exhibit! His space was designed with his needs in mind, complete with plenty of places to climb, hide, and explore. He’s also in great company, with his new neighbors Oakley the bobcat and Ozzy the serval nearby.

Ricky’s Confidence is Established

Now nearly two years into his journey at Cat Tales Wildlife Center, Ricky has grown from a vulnerable young bobcat into a confident and energetic ambassador for non-releasable wildlife. Guests often notice his curious personality, playful energy, and ever-changing bobcat expressions as he explores his habitat.

Ricky has adapted beautifully to life in the Inland Northwest. From climbing and exploring to discovering new scents, enrichment, and seasonal changes, he continues to thrive in the care of the Cat Tales team. Watching Ricky grow into the confident bobcat he is today has become one of the many joys of his rescue story.
