Ricky’s story began in Oklahoma, where he was born in the wild but faced an uncertain future after becoming orphaned. Sight impairment made him non-releasable, leaving him vulnerable to a life cut short. That’s when Cat Tales stepped in, offering him a second chance and a place to call home.

A Community Effort: Bringing Ricky Home

Transporting Ricky to Cat Tales was no small feat. Permits and travel costs exceeded $2,000, and the construction of his new home required an additional $4,000. Thanks to the unwavering support of our community, Ricky safely arrived last summer, ready to begin his new life.

A Home of His Own

After months of careful planning and preparation, Ricky has officially moved into his new, bobcat-furnished exhibit! His space was designed with his needs in mind, complete with plenty of places to climb, hide, and explore. He’s also in great company, with his new neighbors Oakley the bobcat and Ozzy the serval nearby.

Ricky’s First Inland Northwest Winter

This winter marks a big first for Ricky—his introduction to the chilly and snowy season of the Inland Northwest. While the temperatures may drop, Ricky is well-prepared with a cozy den, enriching features to keep him active, and the warm care of the Cat Tales team.

(As of the end of November 2024, we haven’t received measurable snow, although Ricky’s coat has gone from brown to silver. A sure sign of snow to come.)
