Educational Wildlife Encounters Through Protected Contact
Big Cat, Black Bear, & Fox Feeding Encounters
Experience a closer look at how our animal care team works with resident wildlife through protected-contact feeding encounters featuring select big cats, black bears, and foxes.
These educational encounters provide opportunities to observe animal behavior, feeding routines, enrichment, and species-specific adaptations while learning about wildlife rescue, sanctuary care, and respectful human-animal boundaries.
Participation is always voluntary for the animals. Like people, each animal has individual preferences, moods, and comfort levels that may influence whether they choose to participate during a particular encounter. Weather, daily routines, enrichment schedules, and guest volume may also affect availability. Earlier visits generally offer the best opportunity for participation.
Encounter tickets are available for purchase in the Gift Shop upon arrival. Depending on guest volume, there may be a brief wait before your scheduled experience.
To support the animals’ evening care routines, encounters typically conclude about 30 minutes before daily dinner feedings begin around 4:00 PM. Timing may vary based on weather conditions, animal welfare considerations, and operational needs.
We invite guests to enjoy these experiences with curiosity, respect, and appreciation for the rescued wildlife who call Cat Tales home.
BLACK BEAR ENCOUNTER
Our bear encounter will allow you to feed fruit to our black bear, Oscar
- Guests must be 5 years of age or older.
- There is an additional fee of $10 per person.
- A keeper will be with you at all times to ensure your safety as well as to answer any of your questions.
BIG CAT ENCOUNTER
Siberian tigers – Koshka & Sestra; Bengal tiger – Tigger take turns being the choice big cat for this special encounter.
- Guests must be 8 years of age or older.
- There is an additional fee of $15 per person.
- A keeper will be with you at all times to ensure your safety as well as to answer any of your questions.
FOX FEEDING ENCOUNTER
This is a special feeding encounter for all ages. Watch the foxes and their natural forage feeding behaviors.
- Guests can be any age. Great for the young ones.
- There is an additional fee of $5 per person.
- A keeper will be with you at all times to help & to answer any of your questions.
WHITE TIGER ENCOUNTER
Our White Tiger Encounter will allow you to feed meat treats to our White Tiger, Nalin. ** note – Nalin is often not interested, sorry **
- Guests must be 8 years of age or older.
- There is an additional fee of $20 per person.
- A keeper will be with you at all times to ensure your safety as well as to answer any of your questions.
