Create a lasting future for rescued wildlife

For more than 35 years, Cat Tales Wildlife Center has provided lifelong care for rescued wild animals who cannot return to the wild.

A legacy gift can help ensure that animals in our care—and animals who may need us in the future—continue to receive safe housing, nutritious food, veterinary care, enrichment, and compassionate lifelong sanctuary.

Including Cat Tales in your will or other estate plans is a meaningful way to carry your compassion for animals into the future while also honoring the people, animals, and values that have mattered during your lifetime.

Make Cat Tales Part of Your Will

One of the simplest ways to create a lasting legacy for rescued wildlife is to include Cat Tales Wildlife Center in your will or living trust.

A charitable bequest may allow you to support the animals without affecting the resources you need during your lifetime.

Depending on your plans, you may choose to leave:

  • a specific dollar amount;
  • a percentage of your estate;
  • a particular asset;
  • or a portion of the remainder of your estate after gifts to family and loved ones have been fulfilled.

Your will remains yours to change as your circumstances, family, or priorities change.

Other Ways to Create a Legacy

A gift through your will is only one way to provide for the future of Cat Tales.

Legacy and planned gifts may also include:

  • a beneficiary designation from a retirement account;
  • a beneficiary designation from a life insurance policy;
  • payable-on-death or transfer-on-death bank or investment accounts;
  • a donor-advised fund succession plan;
  • memorial or tribute gifts;
  • recurring donor-advised fund grants;
  • or other charitable gifts arranged through your financial or estate-planning advisor.

These gifts can help provide long-term stability for the animals and allow Cat Tales to continue its commitment to lifelong care.

Sample Bequest Language

You may wish to share the following information with your attorney or estate-planning professional when preparing or updating your will:

“I give [the sum of $_____ / _____ percent of my estate / the remainder or _____ percent of the remainder of my estate] to C A T T A L E S, doing business as Cat Tales Wildlife Center, a nonprofit organization located in Mead, Washington, EIN 91-1538226, to support its charitable mission and the lifelong care of rescued wildlife.”

Your attorney can adapt this language to your individual circumstances and wishes.

Give Through a Donor-Advised Fund

A donor-advised fund, often called a DAF, is a charitable giving account that allows donors to recommend grants to nonprofit organizations they care about.

If you have a donor-advised fund through a community foundation, financial institution, or charitable sponsor, you may recommend a grant to Cat Tales Wildlife Center.

Some DAF grants arrive anonymously or without donor contact information. We are grateful for every gift, even when we are unable to thank the donor directly.

How DAF Gifts Help the Animals

DAF grants may be used to support the greatest current needs of the animals, including:

  • nutritious diets and species-specific food;
  • veterinary care and wellness monitoring;
  • habitat care, repairs, and safety improvements;
  • enrichment that supports natural behaviors;
  • daily animal care and keeper support;
  • public education and wildlife conservation awareness.

Unrestricted gifts are especially valuable because they allow Cat Tales to respond to the animals’ most urgent needs throughout the year.

Naming Cat Tales in Your Donor-Advised Fund Succession Plan

Many donor-advised fund sponsors allow donors to name a nonprofit organization as a beneficiary or successor recipient for funds remaining in the account.

You may be able to designate Cat Tales Wildlife Center to receive all or a portion of the remaining balance of your donor-advised fund in the future.

Depending on your DAF sponsor, this may be structured as a one-time distribution or as continuing annual support.

Please contact your donor-advised fund sponsor, community foundation, financial advisor, or estate-planning professional to learn about the options available through your particular fund.
